Experience ethnic minority village life through the eyes of local Tampuan people during a half day cultural immersion. Enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a Tampuan local family, admire the work of traditional craftsmen and women and try out a craft yourself. Finish your village experience by helping to produce traditional rice-wine.
Meet your local Tampuan guide at Yeak Laom Lake ticket office at 11.45am. Travel by your pre-arranged transport to visit a local village and eat traditional Tampuan food with steamed rice, home-cooked by a Tampuan family. Try on traditional Tampuan clothing that is part of a rich cultural heritage being used by families during traditional ceremonies and weddings. Learn the art of traditional Tampuan weaving or other crafts through a hands-on experience. Visit another village and learn how to produce rice wine with the help of a local family.
A local member of the Tampuan community will guide you through this half day tour, however as you will be visiting multiple villages you will need to arrange your mode of transport prior to your tour. We would recommend a tuk tuk or motorbike. A rickshaw tuk-tuk or motodop (motorbike taxi) can be arranged from Banlung town. Organise with your driver for a half-day so they can wait for you during your tour. Prices range between $15-20 for a tuk-tuk or $7-$12 for moto dop. Alternatively, your guesthouse or local tour operator can arrange a motorbike or bicycle for hire. Please note that there are some steep hills surrounding Yeak Laom and it can get hot in the afternoon, therefore were appropriate clothing and sunscreen if you prefer to cycle.
